SDIMS returns with the 3rd Pumelo International Film Festival (formerly Pumelo Independent Film Festival) in Mumbai, India, Asia. Film submissions for Pumelo 2007 were closed with over 280 films from 35 countries. Submissions are still open for Pumelo 2008.
We are ranked in the top 5 for "international film festivals in Asia" by Google. This proves the high standards of screened films, jury quality, festival atmosphere, screening only independent films, etc. The biggest strength of Pumelo is that we screen mainly films produced in the last 2 years and not older films. This year we screened over 60 films from 20 countries. A true delight for any world cinema lover.

SDiMS Festivals are in the curriculum of mass communication courses at SDiMS. Students & faculty organise the non-profit festivals as part of their field training and to learn about world cinema & culture. The films selected are suitable for all audiences above 18 years of age and passes are issued free of charge to the public on first-come-first-served basis. SDiMS is fully supported by the consulates, film makers & film centers of the countries from which films are selected for the film festivals. SDiMS requires your support to ensure that students and the interested audiences in Mumbai can benefit from such non-profit festivals. Pumelo International Film Festival is from 28th to 30th June 2008 in Mumbai, India. Pumelo has a competition for best film based on audience choice & awards prizes for best director, best cinematography, best music, best short, best script, best actor, best actress, best documentary, etc. The films screened at Pumelo International Film Festivals in Asia are selected by a jury comprising of Savio DSilva. All prize winners are sent a Pumelo Award.
Pumelo is a Non-Profit festival funded by SDiMS. Pumelo is growing and requires all the support from the best indie film makers in the world with their presence, films & mentions on their profiles, websites & DVD covers. Yensa International Short Film Festival(YSFF) is from 28th to 30th June at SDiMS and other venues in Mumbai. We are now accepting film entries for Yensa. Short films must be quality films less than 20 minutes in duration to qualify for screenings at our international short film festivals. The best 3 short films get prizes of Rs.5000, Rs.3000 & Rs.1000 respectively. There are also awards for best script, best actor, best actress, best director, best idea, best editing, best music, best cinematography, audience choice, best animation film, best entertainment value, best production value, jury choice, etc. We have already recieved dozens of quality short films and will be screening over 150 quality short films during Yensa 2008.
Enoma International Film Festival(EIFF) for feature films is from 28th to 30th June in Mumbai. We are now accepting entries for the same. Feature films must be films more than 30 minutes in duration to qualify for screenings at Enoma International Film Festival. The best feature films get prizes of Rs.10000, Rs.5000 & Rs.2000 respectively. We also award prizes for best director, best cinematography, best music score, best short, best script, best actor, best actress, etc. Workshops, parties & conferences with film makers makes this festival a truly fun-filled international event. There are over 1500 delegates expected this year.

The first Pumelo Independent Film Festival(PIFF) (now called Pumelo International Film Festival) ended in 2006 after screening few films with a small audience. This year, we have the world's best independent film directors screening their films. Over 70 indie films with an expected audience of hundreds of film fans makes the Pumelo International Film Festival the fastest growing film festival in Asia.

The film festivals will continue to provide an exposition of the many approaches to cinema from around the world while simultaneously offering practical workshops, seminars and lectures by regional and asian filmmakers in order to stimulate ideas as well as gather the technical skills to execute them here in Bombay or Mumbai.

In order to broaden the nature and scope of the Pumelo International Film Festival, the word 'Independent' was added to its title, because the true spirit of short films or creative cinema in general lies in their independence from the establishment of commercial film production and distribution. Due to the increasing global popularity of Pumelo we have changed the name of the festival in 2007 to the Pumelo International Film Festival.
The Festivals are being organized by a Festival Committee led by eminent personality Savio DSilva (Chairman). Leading personalities from the film, TV & alternative media industry in Mumbai will be attending as VIP delegates during SDIMS festivals & events.
