Strawberry Chapel is this church next to a grave yard in South Carolina. One summer when I was about 9 my family went on vacation and met up with some more of my family who lived in SC. Well my cousin Jesse, who was 16 told us about a chapel where a girl had been tied to a grave stone in the graveyard next to the church. The girl, ofcourse, was said to haunt the graveyard. Well of all the days, we decided to check out all the local legends on friday the 13th. Which was bad enough already. Of all the places we went I desinctly remember three, one of them beig Strawberry Chapel because this was one of the scariest times I can remember ever haveing in my life. Alot of creepy things happened there but the scariest part of the whole place was this little like storage building.
It was like just this brick building in the middle of the church yard with just a front opening where they say they used to put dead bodies, back in slave days, of black men that there was no room for yet in the graveyard. The whole concept of that building creeped me out but not wanting to be called a baby by my older brother and sister, when my cousin Gary, who 24 at the time said Lets check it out I went along with everyone els into the place. It smelled like rotting flesh in there and to this very day it freaks me out to think about it. My brother and I were the last ones out of there and he turned around going out the door and pushed me back in there, I still don't know what it was but something caught me! I felt cold boney hands on my arm and not wanting to know what had me I ran out of the building and everyone was like scatered out around the church yard saying my name. I looked at Gary and said I'm right here. He asked me where I had been and I said I was right behind Ronnie (my brother) coming out of the body storage building. Gary looked at me like I was crazy and told me they had been looking for me for over an hour after coming out of the building. I told him I had just come out a second later than they did and he thought I was lieing. But I wasn't! I don't know how that much time had elapsed when I had only been in the building alone for less than a moment! I still don't know and never intend on returning to Strawberry chapel although we return to SC every year for a family vacation.
